Betrayal Trauma Groups in Texas

“ I belong everywhere I go. No matter where it is or who I am with as long as I never betray myself.”
-Brene Brown

  • Betrayal trauma is the intense emotional, mental, and physical response to having one’s trust be violated by a loved one. Betrayal trauma happens when your world shatters because the person who gave you a sense of safety is the same person who pulled the rug out from under you. The response involves intense feelings of sadness, anger, rage, guilt, and shame amongst others. Betrayal trauma symptoms include hypervigilance, irritability, self-doubt, and low self-esteem.

  • There are 3 groups because the healing process is long and complex. People who recently experienced the shock of finding out their partner has betrayed them do not experience the same day-to-day responses as someone who found out 2 years ago. For example- while triggers are inevitable throughout the healing process, they do decrease in frequency and intensity as time goes on IF the person has put in the work.

  • The groups are held virtually throughout the state of Texas.

  • Therapy groups are important in the healing process/recovery journey because they allow people to connect with others in ways that are authentic. Betrayal trauma brings so much shame to a person and this usually leads to isolation. Groups help people feel like they are not alone.

  • It is important that you get placed in the group that is right for you. There is a free, initial assessment to assess fit that is 15-20 minutes long.
If you participate in a therapy group, the cost is $40 per session.

The group lasts for 12 weeks.

Since this is a closed group, meaning that there is a start an end date- your commitment to the 12 weeks is encouraged.

  • Each group session will be held once a week for 90 minutes.
